YOU'VE GOT A FRIEND IN ME

Not so long ago, we had the pleasure of welcoming some Riparide Storytellers to Nurture Creek and we'd like to share their story with you. For those who don't know, Riparide is a specialty holiday accommodation finder tat exists to inspire you to unplug from modern-day trappings and find fulfilment in nature. Sound familiar?

Story by Klezer

After following a small road through the farm, we arrived at Nurture Creek. Maya couldn't contain her three-year-old excitement and wanted to hang out with her friends-to-be right away. 'Which friends?', I asked. 'The chickens and the horses, Daddy'! After a good belly laugh, we put her to sleep and opened a wine to contemplate the stillness of the farm during night time.

Maya was right: we made friends. We woke up, prepared coffee and went to feed the farm animals; lambs, chickens, cows, goats, horses and the most friendly farm dog. Before heading to explore the Alfred Nicholas Memorial Garden, we discovered Maya had made another new friend when Bek, our host, gifted her a loaf of freshly baked bread.

After indulging in some delicious Argentinian food at The Independent in Gembrook, we headed back to the farm to enjoy a slow afternoon. Paula sat down with a book while Maya and I went to greet the animals again. Busy with the cows, Bek waved at us from a distance, while we were able to slow down, be present and make a bunch of new friends – that’s a farm life.
