Nurture Creek is a haven for farmed animals where they are allowed to be happy and enjoy a relaxed life, away from the production requirements of regular farms.
Before our farm we visited numerous farm stays with our kids, we loved the experience but were always very confronted with the need for them to be productive! I had a really hard time with the farmers talking to my kids about producing babies for the freezer.
Here at Nurture Creek, we don’t ever consume our animals. Guests are welcome to the chicken eggs for breakfast, but they live a happy life and we aren’t messing with their natural rhythms. Once they stop laying they will remain a loved member of our family, unlike in other farms where they’re no longer useful.
We are a foster family with the charity Til the cows come home. We help rescue dairy calves who are a waste product of the industry and we care for them and ensure they get the medical support they need to grow into happy cows, who will then be adopted to their forever homes where they will graze happily on grass for their entire lives.
During your stay you can help us care for and bottle feed the babies and learn all about the realities of the industries without having to see the nasty parts.
Animals teach kids and adults so much about yourself, spending time with the animals in their world is such a powerful experience, the best way to melt away the stress and anxieties of life. There is nothing more relaxing than snuggling up in a pile of goats, or brushing a cow until he nearly falls over he’s so relaxed.
Come and see what it’s all about, leave your busy, stressful life behind, get out in nature and teach the kids about animals, plants and their natural environment.
I didn’t think of it as a ‘vegan’ until recently a guest described it that way. Given that we don’t produce anything from our animals and they are treated with love and respect, they are our family and we love them all with all of our heart, I guess it is a vegan friendly farm.
We welcome all people to our farm and don’t judge anyone on their personal choices. Vegans, vegetarians, pescatarians and carnivores are all welcome.
But a WARNING to the die hard carnivores; Everyone leaves the farm reducing their meat intake. It’s pretty hard to chow down on bacon when the pigs are such incredible and loving animals, and milk will never taste the same once you see the babies that almost lost their lives to get the milk for you in the supermarket!
So, if you're looking for a Vegan friendly farm stay in Melbourne, Victoria then Nurture Creek would love to have you visit.
